My Ancestors ( CAZNEAU ) that moved from Boston America to England before 1776 and lived in England.

My grandad Peter Clarke was former owner of the Denbigh Castle in Cazneau Street. He is pictured here outside the old pub. Sadly, he passed away 27th October 2020 aged 92

A great picture on the Swan pub on the corner of Beau Street and Cazneau Street, uploaded by Dernis Hargreaves to the Netherfield Road & SA Facebook platform. Denis pointed out the annual travelling fairground that can be seen behind the pub which many will remember. What caught my eye was the old 3-D style advertising hoarding to the right featuring an almost life size bread van. Every time I walked by there as a kid I looked up at that van and wondered if I could climb up and get through the driver's window, impossible of course.

The picture here and the one below were taken by John Prescott in 1968/69, showing the deep Kingsway 'Wallasey' Tunnel approach roads being built. They are on this Cazneau Street tag, but this approach work actually took out several streets on both sides of Scottie Road, also wiping out the former site of the famous Great Homer Street Open Air Market with its well known Cazneau Street boundary. Photographer John and family lived in Elias Street and Rose Vale from the 1920s until the end of WW2.

What a brilliant animated image of one of the old courts that were once widespread in the Everton area. This is Beau Court, Cazneau Street. Love the washing lines, then ikids playing and the clear inter-action between neighbours. These courts were often dark and foreboding with families sharing one tap and one toilet, but this image highlights the importance of community in an inner city area.

A classic old picture of the junction of Cazneau Street and Juvenal Street with a great reminder of what the old market used to look like, A tram adds to the atmosphere, ultimate destination Dingle. This stop brought people to this famous area with the Great Homer Street golden shopping mile nearby and also the famous Scotland Road.

Cazneau Street was the crucial link between the world famous Scotland Road and St Anne Street. More importantly Cazneau Street contained the west wall of the original open air market at the end of Great Homer Street, known as the Fruit Market or Greaty market. This should not get mixed up with the modern Greaty market or the legendary Paddy's Market. The latter stood on Scotland Road at its junction with St Martin Street.
