Father in law Paul Marsden who lived in 8 Conway Street from early 1940 to 1960. He has dementia but he still talks fondly of Conway Street, St Polycarps and Penrhyn Street school. Any one who remembers the Marsden family ( Parents Lizzie and William) we would be happy to hear.

Mike. I think what you might be referring to is the now disused fountain built as part of Everton Park in that lower area below Netherfield Road North.

The top of Conway Street with its distinctive houses.... This picture was taken across the top of “ Conny” and showing the four storey building at the top of Gordon Street. That building was a furniture making business,Macpheresons, who made wooden frame furniture, and the business helped the war effort by making things like ammunition boxes

One man's pride in a hard day's work is another's life of memories. Here a bulldozer stops after a full day clearing the old terraced houses around Conway Street with the High Rise already dominant above Netherfield Road. Picture was uploaded to Netherfield Rd & SA Facebook.

Intriguing aerial shot.

An intriguing shot that captures many of the old streets below Netherfield Road North, including two famous churches. Just about visible on the left is St Polycarp's at the top of Conway Street. Further down the hill, top left, on Scottie Road is St Anthony's. I've mentioned Conway with its house frontages on just one side, Gordon and Elias are to the right as a sea of a thousand roofs stretch down towards the distant docks.

Conway Street although many prefer to remember its original style.

St Polycarp's Church, a residential property these days, was on the corner of Conway Street and Netherfield Road North. The building is a rare survivor from those pre- demolition days of the 1960s onwards.

The distinctive Conway Street houses looking down towards Greaty.

A Conway Street back entry looking up towards St Polycarp's. Who needed Disneyland when we had our back jiggers. We would run along the top of the walls and jump from side to side. Our terraced house in Melbourne Street had a back kitchen that protruded into the backyard. We would climb on the roof from the wall and sunbathe. It almost makes going to Tenerife irrelevant!
