Heavy traffic heads along Low Hill towards Brunswick Road, but what is important about this picture is the memory of the former Gregson's Well pub straight ahead and the old bank to its right. The original Gregson's well around the corner provided a much needed water source in ancient days for the district of Everton. Despite the folklore, Gregson's water well didn't draw buckets of best bitter during pub opening times!!

A tremendous photograph looking down Brunswick Road from West Derby Road, showing the two Gregson's Well pubs still thriving on opposite sides of the road. This great image was initially uploaded onto the excellent Netherfield Road & Surrounding District platform by Dennis Hargreaves. This will bring back memories for many people.

These images are taken from the excellent 2007 book 'Streets of Liverpool' by Martin Jenkins and Charles Roberts. The top shot looks down Brunswick Roadin the 1960s with some properties beginning to be boarded up ahead of demolition. The bottom image is from Low Hill looking towards Brunswick Road and manages to capture one of the two Gregson's Well pubs, well remembered but long gone.
