Denis Hargreaves of the Netherfield Road & Surrounding Area Facebook platform explains: This is 1904, and the world’s first pre-cast panelled block of dwellings are nearing completion in Eldon Street, near Scotland Road, designed by Liverpool City Engineer John Brodie. The pre-cast panels were constructed at Cobbs Quarry, St Domingo Road, and then transported to the site in Eldon St by steam tractor.
