    Calder Street, with the red shop on the corner, linked St Domingo Road with Beacon Lane.My great grandparents lived in both of the latter.The other streets going right towards Sir Thomas White Gardens are Carmel and Penrose, with the small cul de sac that is Hodder Street to the left. This picture may have been taken by Philip G. Mayer.

    My great grandparents Tom and Margaret Rogers lived in Calder Street before moving to a house in Beacon Lane. I remember Calder well, often running down there on the way to Major Lester school. I eventually lived in nearby Melbourne Street off St Domingo, opposite Sir Thomas White Gardens.
