Eastbourne Street

Eastbourne Street
  1. Ken Rogers says:
Remember when the only cars in our streets were the pedal version. Here is Kenneth Rondel in Eastbourne Street. What a motor!

I'm trying to find information or a photo of 5 Jogo Crescent or any photos of the Crescent, it shows on my grandmother's birth certificate as 5 Jogo Crescent, Eastbourne Street. It would be amazing to see where she lived as a baby in 1919 if anyone can help it would be gratefully appreciated as I am making up a family history book.

Eastbourne Street at its familiar curve with Plumpton Street to the left and Radfliffe Street the next one down. Tram tracks and cobbled sets and cast iron bollards set the era and how many of you leap-frogged over iron bollards just like these?

The once grand and vibrant Eastbourne Street was dramatically affected by the clearances of the 1960s and 1970s. Here a 19c bus heads down the hill from Everton Road, but it's doubtful it had to stop for passengers with Eastbourne Street and others around it now flattened, a sad sight.
  11. Joan Hatch nee Cliff says:
Eastbourne St was where the local midwife lived, on call day and night, in all weathers.

Eastbourne Street. The shop with the canopy was a bread, cake and pie shop. It was 2 sisters who owned the shop. They made the most amazing meat & potato pies. You would also take a jug as the gravy, which didn’t look very nice, was beautiful over your pie. I can still remember the smell of those delicious pies to this day.
