Police Station Everton Terrace , Netherfield Brow can be seen right of photo.

Little fountains like this were common all over the city, giving kids a refreshing drink in those days when we were outplaying most of the day. This one was in Everton Terrace.

Netherfield Brow Heights from Everton Terrace in the 1980s.
-
The 1960s clearances devastation that wiped out the old streets between Heyworth Street and Everton Terrace. If that is Heyworth Street School directly ahead, the first street this side would have been Copeland Street where my dad Harry and the Rogers' family hailed from.

An 1894 drawing of the former Everton Terrace Ragged Industrial School. A proper photograph is further down the reel.

A garage collapse at Everton Terrace sends this little van down a very large hole.

Denis Hargreaves of the Netherfield Road & District Facebook uploaded this fascinating image of Everton Terrace. He explained: “In 1938, after Hitler's occupation of Austria and the annexe of Czechoslovakia, preparations for the inevitable outbreak of war were stepped up. In the background here is the Everton Terrace Police Recruitment and Training Centre.” The riders are wearing gas masks, ready for any eventuality.

The famous steps that led up from Netherfield Road the Everton Terrace.

A highly unusual image of an old tree, literally hanging on in there on Everton Terrace complete with a daredevil boy clinging on to a branch. This image captures the Braddocks down below on Netherfield Road North. We don't know who took the picture, but it was uploaded to the Netherfield Road Facebook platform by Mary Thornton.

Photo taken by John Prescott in 1968/69. Everton Terrace, looking up at the elevated former Heyworth Street School. See interesting artist's impression further down this reel.

Three lads stand atop a rocky outcrop that was formerly the site of Heyworth Street School. This great image shows the city down below between two of the dominating High Rise blocks, now demolished, of course.

A 'Bobby' looks down on his old beat from Everton Terrace, very dfferent from the way it was.

Looking down across Everton Terrace to St George's Hill.

A superb painting of the back of Heyworth Street School from Everton Terrace circa 1949, artist's copyright acknowledged. Clearly, this part of the school occupied one of the old mansions that were once ranged across the Terrace. The image was uploaded to the Netherfield Road & Surrounding Area Facebook at one time by Peter Noonan. It has real resonance for me. My father Harry Rogers went to this school in the late 1920s into the 1930s. Also, the bombed debris area to the right led across to my grandparents house on Copeland Street where the Rogers family lived for many years. My dad would have played on this 'oller' like the kids in the picture.

Big Chris Crawford in the backyard of 113 Everton Terrace in 1955 with sons Kevin and Robert, one wearing a very smart pair of cowboy boots that he recalls never came off for two years!
-
The former tower blocks on Everton Terrace replaced many familiar old terraced streets following the 1960s clearances, but never proved a satisfactory long term solution and the district now faced a second demolition derby.
-
My brother had this one done for me quite a few years ago. A fellow had a shop at the Albert dock and did most streets on request. I don't think the year is quite correct but close enough.

Taken in 1994 after Netherfield Brow high rises were demolished and before Everton Park replaced our old streets.

The Beacon Bedding, was facing the Police Stores, later the Police Station on Everton Terrace.
-
After the houses were demolished and the corrugated barriers were installed we had the fantastic view from our new home which can now be seen from Everton Park.

I love Ged's picture of 67-75 Everton Terrace, but what a sad sight with the houses empty and forlorn. It still brings back great memories.

A sad image of Everton Terrace in mid-demolition in the 1960s. From the left turn down St George's Hill you can see streets like Copeland, Stonewall, Hibbert, Abbey and Waterhouse. The steps are interesting, showing how they tried to lower the steepness of the street in this instance. Heyworth Street School is still standing and can be seen in the distance. The High Rise flats are clearly beginning to dominate the district.
