I was born in Mill rd hospital 3rd September 1953

I was born in Mill Road Hospital in 1953, as today is my 73rd birthday I was searching on the internet for my birthplace and found this site. What a beautiful building it was such a shame it’s gone.

I was born here in 1976 5th July. Extremely hot summer, so hot that reservoirs ran down past critical levels and a causing a prolonged drought. To 'conserve' drinking water the old Corporation temporarily interrupted supplies and set up communal standpipes on street corners, forcing residents to queue with buckets, pots, and pans! 15 days above 32°C. My mam must of really suffered being 9 months pregnant.

I also went to Our Lady's High School right next door to the hospital before that was also knocked down!

I was born here back in 1989 and raised on Scottie! Love this city! Really makes me proud!

Our son Daniel was born at the hospital on Christmas Day in 1976 and 3 years later his brother was born on Christmas Day in 1979. Daniel died in 2013. We went past the hospital today and memories flooded in.
