My great grandparents Robert & Robertina Winstanley opened one of the first Cocoa houses in Liverpool, which I think is in the photo of the Cocoa house in Richmond Row on this site. They went on to run the St Annes Institute, in Richmond Row, which my grandparents took over and ran until the building was demolished in the late 1950's.

Matthew Mason, was landlord of the Stafford Arms. no.62/64, at the time of the 1891 census. It is believed he was also the landlord or owner of the Masons Arms no.22,but don't have any further info on this. Have photo copies of both these pubs, the Stafford dated approx 1905 & Mason approx. 1898, two men in aprons are standing outside of this pub & was hoping one was Matthew but as he died in 1894 this is unlikely. Don't know if you have any more info regarding the Masons Arms, Ken? Matthew was previously landlord of the Hare & Hounds in Maghull having taken over from his grandmother, Charlotte Williams my great great grandmother.
