Robson Street

The picture "Robson Street Craftshop at Hartnup Street" has stirred up a load of memories for me. As a kid (7-8) in the 60's, my family used to live above the butchers shop (Hayes). We moved there after having lived with grandparents in St Domingo Vale. Keith, the son of the owner, used to let me help out in the shop. He used to reward me with 2s/6d at the end of the day, a fortune to a kid at the time. I can remember on match days doing the "Mind you car mister?" like most of us kids did then, to earn a few bob. Many years later, I heard that Keith and his brother Barry had both drowned after getting into trouble in their small boat on the Mersey.
