Soho Street

I’m from Australia and have recently been given some old letters from 1930’s and 40’s in which my cousin writes that he owned the Art Quilt factory during this time. His name was Edward Lean. His sons Ted and George Lean also ran the factory on a day to day basis. I’m wondering if you can offer me any more information on them. Many thanks Marilyn von Thien

Can anyone here help me with photos or references for Soho Street and Richmond Road to help me find out about my ancestors in Liverpool. My family lived in 173 Richmond Road between about 1870-1900 and my five-greats grandmother Annie Walker ran a Pork Shop in Soho Street. When I was last up in Liverpool I trudged around the area but it is very different now and I cannot find the addresses. Does anyone know anything about the site of the Pork Shop in Soho Street, or any photos showing it during the 1900s?? Would love to learn more. Thanks.

Busy day at the old Soho Street shops

This photo is of one of the managers and staff, having a lunch break. It is the staff entrance of The Art Quilt Company on Soho Street 1965. They made beautiful satin quilts, I was one of 5 material cutters who worked there.

One of the many public houses in the area, Soho Arms. Soho Street off Everton Brow. I met my husband in here, having a drink ,on a Saturday night. He worked on the demolition, I worked in the Art Quilt.

Soho Street was at the heart of west Everton. It ran from the junction of Everton Brow and Richmond Row and reached the busy main road that is Islington. Some well known local streets ran off China Street, including William Henry Street and Langsdale Street.
